Before You Record

  1. Make sure that your microphone and headphones are plugged in correctly (headphones are recommended because the microphone will pick up sound from your desktop speakers).
  2. Make sure "Microphone" is selected as the recording source in the drop-down menu on the mixer toolbar.
  3. Click on the microphone icon in the meter toolbar (top middle) to turn on monitoring. Try talking into the microphone and you should see a red level indicator moving around. Adjust the microphone volume (top right) until you get a level that is close to the right edge of the meter without turning the far-right section solid red--if you see this solid red section your audio is clipping and your finished sound file will be distorted. Click onthe solid red square to remove it, and adjust the microphone volume.
