With SimpleSite's enhanced templates, you can easily create a group of links to provide resources or navigation for those visiting your Web site. You can quickly create links to external Web sites, your other Web pages, and Catalyst tools.

You can insert a group of links into any of the six layout areas in the enhanced templates. Creating a group of links enables you to move, hide, or delete the entire group as a unit. You can also create links in a content section, if appropriate for your Web page. A group of links can contain as few or as many links as needed for your content.

To begin, select Group of links from the "Insert" drop-down menu in the layout area in which you want to insert the links. A new, blank group of links will appear at the bottom of the section.

By default, the group contains five link toolbars. To add another link, click Add link ; a new link toolbar will appear at the bottom of the group. You can also delete links you don't use by clicking Delete link Delete link icon.

Work with a group of links.

One benefit of creating a group of links is that you can move the entire group as one piece if you need to rearrange content in any layout area on your Web page. You can also hide an entire group of links so that they will not appear on the published page. Follow these steps to work with your group of links.

To move a group of links within a layout area, click the up Move up or down Move down arrows until the group of links appears in the desired position.

To hide a group of links, select Hide on the "Group of links" toolbar. The hidden group will not be displayed in the published Web page.

To delete a group of links, click Delete link group Delete link icon , and then click OK to confirm that you want to delete the item.

Create a link.

To create a link, follow the steps below.

  1. Enter the link text in the space provided in the "Link" toolbar.
  2. Click Edit link Edit link. The "Insert/Modify Link" dialog box will appear.
  3. You have three methods for creating a link:

    URL: Type the URL of the Web site to which you want to link.

    Select a page or file: If you want to link to another page or file on your Web site, click Select and then click the Web page or file to which you want to link in the file tree in the left frame.

    Catalyst tools: To create a link to one of your existing Catalyst tools, click Link to one of your Catalyst tools, expand the tree, and then locate the tool to which you want to link. Click the title of the tool, and the path will appear in the URL field.
  4. Enter text you want to appear when someone hovers over your link in the "Title" area.
  5. Click OK. To test your link, you must preview your Web page.

Edit, move, hide, or delete a link.

You can edit your links, move them around within the group, hide an individual link, or delete them from the group.

To edit a link, click Edit link Edit link . The "Insert/Modify Link" dialog box will appear. Make changes to the link text, URL, and title, and then click OK.

To move a link within the group, click the up or down arrows until the links appear in the desired order.

To hide a link, select Hide on the link toolbar. The hidden link will not be displayed in the published Web page.

To delete a link, click Delete link Delete link icon , and then click OK to confirm that you want to delete the item.
