SimpleSite makes it easy to create Web pages for your site. The enhanced template sets, which provide templates for both personal and course Web pages in two flexible layouts, make inserting images, adding links, and formatting your content even easier.

Follow the steps below to create a new Web page with the SimpleSite enhanced templates:

  1. Create a new page Click thumbnail to view full image.
On the top menu bar of the SimpleSite workspace, click New Page. You will move to the "Create a new page" screen.
  2. From the "New page or page element" drop-down menu, select the template you want to use to create this page.
Click Preview to see an example of the default layout of the selected template. Once you have opened the preview window, use the "Preview" drop-down menu to view the other templates. Close the preview window when finished.
  3. Select the location on your Web site where you want to save the new page. Click the folder in the file tree in the left frame, and the folder name will automatically appear in the "Location" field. If you do not see the folder you want, click the expand icons in the file tree (+ on a PC and an arrow on a Mac) to navigate through your folders.
  4. Enter a file name for the new Web page in the "Unique file name" field. A name will be suggested based on the template that you have chosen, but you can type a different name if you choose. The name of your Web pages cannot contain spaces or special characters. You can use a hyphen or an underscore in the filename.
If you change the suggested file name, be sure to include the appropriate file extension, such as .shtml, .doc, or .jpg. Including the file extension at the end of the file name helps you, others, and your Web browser or other software know what kind of file this is, and how to correctly display or open the file. Files made with the SimpleSite enhanced templates need to have .shtml as the file extension.
The home page of your Web site should be called index.shtml. Web browsers look first for a page called "index" when they view any Web site. Learn more about the index page.
  5. Click Next. You will be taken to your new page and can begin adding content.
