Macros

Macros are advanced features that can speed up the editing and formatting tasks you perform often in a Word document. Macros record sequences of menu selections you make, which can then be "played" in other documents to carry out a series of actions in one step.

Recording a Macro

To record a Macro, follow these steps:

  1. Click the View tab.
  2. Click the Macros button from the Macros group.
  3. Click Record Macro.
  4. Type a name for your macro in the Macro name field. Enter a name that you will remember or that describes the actions being taken.
  5. Choose whether to activate your macro with a button or with a keyboard command.
  6. Choose where to store the macro.
  7. Click OK. The actions, button presses, and editing that you do will be recorded until you tell the macros to stop recording. To stop recording, click the Macros button on the View tab, and click Stop Recording.
