CommonView workspace owners and administrators, such as instructors or advisors, can use CommonView to share a UW Google Sites with students, to allow students to submit a link to UW Google Site, and to allow students to view a list of your classmates' submitted UW Google Sites.

This CommonView feature allows workspace administrators and students to access their Google Sites created using the UW Google Apps. It does not access regular Google Sites created with your non-UW Google account. For more information about UW Google Apps, click here.

To access the CommonView workspaces to which you have been given access, follow the instructions listed on this page.

View and copy example UW Google Sites shared by workspace administrators

Follow these steps to view and/or copy a UW Google Site shared in a workspace:

  1. From the Catalyst account page, click the name of the CommonView workspace. You will move to the workspace.
  2. On the menu on the left, click the view you want to see. You will move to the selected view.
  3. Under "Example Google Sites," you will see a list of the sites that the administrator has shared. Click View. The administrator's site will open in a new window.
  4. The administrator can allow students to create a copy of the example site in their own UW Google Sites account. To make a copy, click Copy to my UW Google Sites account next to the example site. A dialog will appear.
  5. Type a name for the copied site. The name of your site must be unique within the UW Google Apps.
  6. Click Save to save your new site.
Submit a link to a UW Google Site

If the administrator has allowed students to submit links to their own UW Google Sites in the CommonView workspace, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. From the Catalyst account page, click the name of the CommonView workspace.
  2. On the menu on the left, click the view you want to see. You will move to the selected view.
  3. Under "Submit a link to your UW Google Site," in the grey panel, click Select UW Google site. A dialog will open.
  4. The administrator may have set a due date for submissions. The due date will appear in the upper right corner of the grey panel. Submissions will be marked late after that date.
  5. Select the site you want to submit. You can select more than one site.
    The administrator may have chosen to share the link to your UW Google Site with the workspace administrators or with the other students in your class. The permission level will be indicated above the "Submit site" button in the dialog.
  6. Click Submit site. The dialog will close and your submitted site(s) will appear in the grey panel.
  7. To remove a link to any of your sites, click Remove next to its name in the grey panel.
View other students' submitted UW Google Sites

If the administrator has allowed students to view other students' links to their UW Google Sites in the CommonView workspace, you can find them by following these steps:

  1. From the Catalyst account page, click the name of the CommonView workspace.
  2. On the menu on the left, click the view you want to see. You will move to the selected view.
  3. Under "Site Submissions," you will see a list of all sites that have been submitted by you and other students. Click the name of any site to open it in a new window.
