Workshops Digital Video
You too can be the next big indie filmmaker (or at least knock their socks off with your next big in-class presentation). For beginners to the world of digital video, we recommend starting with the Digital Video Overview workshop, where you will learn how to plan and execute your project.  From there you can learn the basics of digital video editing with the software applications - Apple iMovie and Final Cut Pro, followed by post-production with Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Lastly, finish up  your project by burning to DVD with Apple DVD Studio Pro or Adobe Encore.

Digital Video Overview

Digital video is an accessible technology for recording video, but it can be a bit more daunting than figuring our your family camcorder. In this introductory workshop, you will learn to plan and execute your digital video project, including how-to transfer video to a computer, and how to archive the finished product. After the workshop, you will be able to create impressive video presentations, an entertaining home movie, or the next award-winning independent film.

Apple Final Cut Pro

Apple Final Cut Pro is the professional standard video-editing software for independent and student filmmaking. Its simple features can be used in extremely powerful ways. In this workshop, you will learn how to make a professional-looking film, and explore the possibilities of digital video. Other topics include keyframing attributes and effects, and creating and applying transitions and titling. Use the knowledge gained in this workshop to create your first student film production.

Adobe After Effects

Adobe After Effects is a highly regarded tool for post-production and motion picture effects. In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to create original visual effects for stand-alone use or for integration with Apple Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. Other topics include importing compositions, compositing, nesting, setting scale, time and opacity, using keyframes, and using plug-ins and special effects. Learn the basics with us and then use them to create stunning graphics for your next film.

Apple DVD Studio Pro

Apple DVD Studio Pro is a professional application for designing and creating a DVD to archive and distribute your videos. In this workshop, you will learn how to set up your DVD in a sophisticated yet navigable manner. You will learn everything from importing your video to burning the final disc. Other topics include adding sound clips to your menus, creating custom templates, and troubleshooting with the simulator feature. Use your knowledge gained in this workshop to distribute your work, create your own digital portfolio, or even submit your work to a local film festival.

With iMovie, you can import video from your camera or from other files for creating presentations, short films, or video podcasts. In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to import and edit a simple digital video. Other topics include transferring video to a computer, adding effects and transitions, creating titles, and exporting your final video.
